Critically Acclaimed Second Record Out Now via Island Records
The Last Dinner Party are thrilled to announce the release of their second album, “From The Pyre.” This album is available today through Island Records.
The London-based five-piece entered the studio in early 2025, collaborating with Grammy Award-winning producer Markus Dravs, known for his work with Wolf Alice, Florence & The Machine, and Bjork. They aimed to create a follow-up to their number one debut album, 2023’s Prelude to Ecstasy.
A Fun and Evolving Sound
From The Pyre showcases a band that is enjoying their creative journey. There is no pressure to replicate the success of their explosive debut. Instead, this album reflects a young band maturing and developing their songwriting skills. Their tight-knit unit is a testament to the countless months spent on the road together.
Insights from The Last Dinner Party
The band describes From The Pyre as a collection of stories bound by the concept of album-as-mythos. They explain:
“The Pyre itself is an allegorical place where these tales originate. It represents violence and destruction, but also regeneration, passion, and light.”
The songs are character-driven yet deeply personal. Everyday life events are pushed to pathological extremes. For instance, being ghosted transforms into a Western dance with a killer, while heartbreak confronts the apocalypse. The lyrics evoke powerful imagery, including rifles, scythes, sailors, saints, cowboys, floods, Mother Earth, Joan of Arc, and blazing infernos. This evocative imagery provides an honest way to discuss their experiences, giving each story the emotional weight it deserves.
A Darker, Rawer Sound
The band notes that this record feels darker, more raw, and earthy. It takes place against a sublime landscape rather than at an opulent table. There’s a metatextual and cheeky aspect, reflecting a knowing look back at themselves.
Achievements and Global Success
With two BRIT Awards to their name, including Breakthrough Artist earlier this year, The Last Dinner Party has sold out nearly every show worldwide. Their thrilling introduction to the music scene has made them one of the most exciting new British bands in decades. The opening of From The Pyre suggests that their unparalleled success story is far from over.
