A bold departure from the intricate acoustic sound that made him a global name, ‘Alright Alright Alright’ sees Faulkner plugging in, turning up, and having fun. Swapping his signature acoustic guitar for a distorted Hofner Violin Bass, he leans into a rawer, heavier groove that’s as joyful as it is unexpected.
Newton said on the track:
“I was in the studio having more fun than anyone should be allowed to have at work, and I didn’t give a f*ck what anyone would think of the track because, in all honesty, I didn't think anyone would ever hear it.. The fact that it’s now a key single from my eighth studio album is mind-blowing to me.”
“There’s hints of influences across the track but they make almost sense, so I not going to list them here and you’ll probably hear different ones anyway. Bloom Twins feature vocally on it and totally smashed it, they bring a layer of ice cool surrealism to the track which it would not be the same without.”
‘Alright Alright Alright’ is another taste of what’s to come on OCTOPUS, Faulkner’s most adventurous and collaborative record yet. Built from scratch in his East London home studio, the album is filled with colour, rhythm, and risk — blending vintage textures with modern pop sensibilities and a freewheeling creative energy that reflects an artist in full reinvention.
Now, at 40, Newton Faulkner is stepping into a new chapter — one driven by experimentation, collaboration, and joy. OCTOPUS lands 27 March 2026, with Alright Alright Alright setting the tone for an album that’s bound to surprise long-time fans and new listeners alike.
‘Alright Alright Alright’ is out now on all streaming platforms via Cooking Vinyl Records.
