K.FLAY Announces Sydney & Melbourne Headline Dates for July 2019

Grammy-nominated alt-hip hop artist K.FLAY has announced Australian headline dates, taking in Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Wednesday 17 July, and Melbourne’s Howler on Thursday 18 July, in addition to her debut appearance at the sold out Splendour in the Grass 2019.

Bringing her sensational blend of hip-hop, lo-fi pop, and indie rock, delivered with what Pitchfork describes as “unclassifiable intensity”, K.Flay injects vocal spitfire into battling beats. The LA-based creative returns to Australia after an energetic Groovin’ the Moo in 2017, which saw her play to packed rooms in Sydney and Melbourne.

With a third studio album in the works, K.Flay released first taster ‘Bad Vibes last month, which was immediately added to triple j. The hit’s mix of sugary pop and organic punk signals a renewed approach as K.Flay brings her biting lyricism and endless energy back to our shores.

“The genre-crossing artist refuses to play by the rules and her lyrics are raw and real – just like her” – Rolling Stone

“this woman is a modern heroine. She is at once combative and playful, feisty and vulnerable; her lyrics contain such boundless multitudes.” ★★★★★ - Spill Magazine

After years of critical acclaim, K.Flay’s breakthrough single ‘Blood in the Cut’ climbed to a Top 20spot on the US Billboard chart, and was Grammy-nominated for Best Rock Song; to date accumulating 32 million Spotify streams. The track features on 2017 release ‘EVERY WHERE IS SOME WHERE’ that reached Number One on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, and was a Feature Album on triple j.

Possessing an iconic catalogue of genre-defying grit, K.Flay’s music soundtracks TV shows Sabrina, and Bojack Horseman, games such as Need for Speed, FIFA 16, NBA 2K17, and films including xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and Tomb Raider. She’s toured globally with Imagine Dragons, Grouplove, Dashboard Confessional, and on Warped Tour, and collaborated with the likes of Mike Shinoda, Robert De Long, and locals FIDLAR this year on ‘Called You Twice’.

Experience the raw emotion of K.Flay in these intimate performances. Baring her soul with rebellious energy, K.Flay brings her lush, gritty sounds to Australia this July.
